PICASSO’S PYRENEES: A TRAVELOGUE; SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5 at 2:00 pm
Picasso's Pyrenees: A Travelogue - Sunday, November 5 at 2:00 pm in the W.J. Vescio Community Center (attached to the library)

About 100 years ago, a little mountain town in the French Pyrenees called Céret became a center of Modern Art. Up-and-coming artists such as Picasso, Braque, Matisse, and Gris spent summers here in the teens of the last century. This group became known as the School of Céret. After WW I, another wave of artists and writers including Soutine, Dufy, and Cocteau descended on the town. During WW II, artists fleeing Nazism settled there, among them Chagall,  Dubuffet, and Tzara. Liz Kemble of Travellati Tours will discuss and share images of the places where these renowned artists worked and lived.

Registration is recommended but all are welcome to attend.  To register, please email Shelley Glick at sglick@wlsmail.org or call the library at 941-7072.
