North State Road Update
The following is the latest as of 2:00 PM today. The North State Road Emergency Reconstruction Project recently went out for bid and NYSDOT awarded the bid to lowest responsible bidder. This $900K project is to be fully funded by Federal and State funds and the NYSDOT is the lead agency in this project. As I reported previously, the specifications call for daytime and nighttime construction to accelerate project completion.
Notwithstanding discussions and the sharing of information reported only last night, we just received word that the NYSDOT intends to mobilize on site as early as October 24th necessitating the closing of North State Road this Monday. Prior to this development, the NYSDOT targeted project completion by November 23rd: prior to Thanksgiving. It remains to be
seen if the change in start date will change the targeted completion date. Regardless, with today’s development, ongoing discussions both to expedite the work and to avoid any prolonged closures continue and include suggestions on more “business district” friendly and direct detour changes as well as the prospect of North State Road partial re-openings during the construction project.
As always, we appreciate your support and understanding during this interval and will update you accordingly.
