From the Village Manager’s Report … 18 September 2017
Weather Advisory … not to be an alarmist, but:
There’s a different spin to the ongoing series of new hurricanes that we have been following from a distance.
The most recent is that Hurricane Jose (category one) is making its way north up the east coast: moving at about 9 MPH. While it is expected to diminish to a “Tropical Storm”, the National Weather Service has issued a storm watch for Southern Westchester. This could mean heavy dosages of wind driven rain coming in on late Tuesday and extend into Wednesday.
Obviously all this is subject to change. Today’s drill should be for you to take the time to prepare for your own needs and follow the local weather/news for updates. This report is as of 2:00 PM today.
If there are any storm related damages such as flooding or downed trees, please call our Police Department at 941-2130 and our DPW at 941-9105. Power outages should be reported directly to Con Ed at 1-800-75-CON ED and then pass on the situation to our Police Department. So that we can follow up, be sure to get an “individual incident number” for our records. Please do not touch or try and move downed trees or power lines.
AND … they say that Hurricane Maria (now a category 3) may be in the offing late this week but we’ll figure that out later.
