GO GREEN FOR EARTH DAY: COMPOST BINS AND RAIN BARRELS OFFERED FOR SALE AT SPECIAL REDUCED PRICE FOR MUNICIPALITIES FOR ONE DAY ONLY AT BRIARCLIFF MANOR PUBLIC LIBRARY.
Help make our community a “greener” one and celebrate Earth Day by purchasing a household compost bin and rain barrel at a special reduced price for municipalities. The sale will be held in the parking lot of the Briarcliff Manor Public Library on Saturday, April 17th from 2:00-5:00 pm. The Earth Machine, one of the most popular household compost bins will be sold for $55 and the Systern Rain Barrel for $75 (valued at $150 each). If you reserve a compost bin by April 14th you will also receive a free kitchen scrap bucket. The sale is a rain or shine event. You must pick up your reserved bin and rain barrel on the day of the event and you can pay by cash or check only. Accessories will also be available for sale that day.
On average, each household produces over 600 pounds of kitchen and yard waste a year. A compost bin is the best way to significantly reduce this waste at the source. It also creates a source of safe and odor-free nutrients for your garden and yard. A rain barrel will allow you to cut your water bill and conserve water by using rain water for your lawns and gardens.
Appearing at the sale will be nationally known eco-consultant, Seth Leitman, The Green Living Guy, who will provide advice on how to conserve resources and promote a better environment. Leitman, a Briarcliff Manor resident, is the author of Build Your Own Electric Vehicle and other books and is editor of the popular Green Guru Guides.
In addition, you can get the whole family into the green spirit! A recycled paper craft will be offered for all ages in the Children’s Program Room from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. (Drop in anytime from 2-4. Children under age 6 must be accompanied by an adult.)
Don’t miss this opportunity to take an important step towards living a “greener” life and promoting a better environment for our community and our world.
